Do you test only on the skin microbiome?

No, at BYOME LABS we work not only on skin microbiomes, but also on scalp, oral and vaginal microbiomes. Our scientific expertise enables us to understand and analyze precisely the interactions between cosmetic products and these delicate ecosystems, guaranteeing reliable and relevant results for your formulations.

What's the difference between in vivo and in vitro testing, and why do you only do in vitro at Byome Labs?

In vivo tests are carried out directly on human volunteers, while in vitro tests are performed in the laboratory on biological samples or cell cultures. At Byome Labs, we prefer in vitro tests for their precision and reproducibility, while allowing strict control of experimental conditions. This approach offers reliable results while avoiding variations due to individual differences in each person.

Why did you choose these specific strains for your analyses?

Our choice of strains is guided by their relevance and representativeness in the human skin microbiome. We select strains that have a major influence on skin health, from those commonly present to those implicated in skin imbalances, to ensure the most significant scientific results for your products.

Do you work only with reference strains or also with wild strains?

We work with both types of strains: reference strains, which are well-characterized and widely used in scientific studies, and wild strains, derived directly from the natural microbiome. This dual approach enables us to deliver results that reflect the true diversity and complexity of the skin microbiome.

How long does it take to obtain the Microbiome Friendly label?

It takes about a month from receipt of your product in our Clermont-Ferrand laboratory to delivery of your full report with all the results. This includes all the steps necessary to guarantee accurate and rigorous analyses.
